Hi Kids.
I don't get my JG Monte out much but when I do I love this car.
I just returned from a 3500km(2000+mile) road trip in the past 2weeks with my wife and DELCO the dog(stnd poodle).
What a great hwy car..... Could use a bunch more HP but that ain't happenin’ with the V6. It still rips along at a fast clip.
I just went from my home in Langley BC, to Edmonton AB(1200kms/750miles)...worked on my daughters house(new siding) for 4 days...then off to Fraser Lake BC(1000kms/650miles)to my sisters Lake cabin/house..worked there for 5 days fixing stuff, building stairs, decks, ,etc).....then home to Langley(1100kms/700miles) last Saturday. Brought the 13 yr old grandaughter home for a few weeks too..
We had a great time. The car is comfortable……….quite fast when ya need it to be......smooth ride.....
Only got flashed once by a Hwy officer going the other way..He turned on the blue&reds and didn't bother to U-turn to stop me..I got the point and was careful after that. I usually averaged about 100/kms per hour.....including stops. 1000kms in 10 hours.
The radio is decent......I loaded the IPOD with driving tunes and use a cassette adapter to get the sound into the stereo. Did the USA Montes come with both cassette as well as CD players??
My mileage wasn't great, (mid 20's/gal)..buy I did have my foot in it for some/most/part of the time.
We have some really nice driving thru BC & Alberta. Thru the Rocky mountains in Jasper National Park......thru the famous Fraser Canyon......some twisty roads and some straight-on sections.
It was a great drive and I thought I would share with all of you.

I have to say that the stock tires are not good compared to my new 18" rims and BFG G-Force 245-45-18"....I've driven this trip with the originals and these are far superior.
I like the looks of the yellow-lettered tires, and they are put away for car shows, but if you plan to travel..try a set of newer performance tires.

NAMETNOM.CAM..Sorry I didn't have time to contact you in Edmonton on this trip. Too busy with getting all new siding on the house. We did go to the July/Canada day fireworks at the campground in Lindbrook though.

Have a great day ......I hope you can all get out and put some miles on your Monte's this year....

.............................graham
Very Happy

Hi, Graham!

The Monte's could come either way, with just a CD or CD and cassette. Mine has just a CD. My Monte is up for some tires very soon.... I'm not sure what I'm going to get for it. We need three sets actually, my parents minivan, and my Torino could use a set.

Sounds like a great trip. I drive mine all summer. I am still on the original tires, 66,701 miles on them. It is a great driving car.

I did it again last week.
Went to Edmonton again to return the grandaughter to her parents.......We had her with us for 3 weeks. While I was up there this time we built 700 sg ft of sundeck...3000 screws???
Another 1500 miles(750 x 2).......The car was again most excellent...
Loaded a bunch of tunes in the IPOD and headed out for a 12 hr drive.
Classic Rock for a while.....then the grandaughters IPOD for a bit. Can you say Lady GaGa......PARAMOUR..etc............. I enjoyed that stuff as well.
I hope you all get out and enjoy your car this summer.
Probably go up there again next month.............\I can hardly wait.

take care..........................graham
